The name Jeuveau (rhymes with “hello”) is a twist on the French “nouveau,” meaning “new” or “modern.” This is appropriate because Jeuveau is the freshest age-defying injectable to appear in the U.S. market. Jeuveau, from maker Evolus, is an exciting Botox alternative for patients who want to reduce the appearance of facial wrinkles such as frown lines, crow’s feet and forehead creases. 

I’ve heard of Jeuveau. What is it?

Jeuveau first appeared on the aesthetic scene in Asia in 2014 and was approved by the FDA in 2019. Also promoted on social media as “#newtox” by Evolus’s savvy marketing team, it is similar to Botox because it uses the same botulinum toxin to relax facial muscles and smooth wrinkles. However, Jeuveau uses a special purification process called “Hi-Pure™” that can make it more effective than Botox for some patients. 

What can I expect with Jeuveau?

Treatment with Jeuveau is similar to Botox. Patients enjoy time-efficient treatment sessions (10-15 minutes), optimal results in about a week, and long-lasting results (typically between 3-4 months). When Jeuveau was first introduced, many expected that it would be 20-30% cheaper than Botox, but it has turned out to cost essentially the same.

Is Jeuveau for me?

If you already receive Botox treatments and are completely satisfied with your results, then there’s not necessarily any reason to switch products. However, some patients may experience better results with Jeuveau. If you feel like Botox doesn’t work as well for you as you would like, then Jeuveau could be worth trying. Of course, even if you like Botox, you can still take Jeauveau for a test drive. It can be fun to try something new! And, you might discover that Jeaveau is a better fit.
